Backing Drive to F1 in Schools Finals

Smithstown Light Engineering is delighted to support and sponsor a team of six talented transition year students from Colaiste Mhuire, Ennis, as they rev up for the national finals of the F1 in Schools Ireland competition. To kick-start the collaboration, Colaiste Mhuire’s ‘Smooth Operators’ visited Smithstown Light Engineering’s head office in Shannon to gain engineering insights.

The Formula 1 ‘F1 in Schools’ project, aimed at secondary school STEM students, challenges participants to design, race, and construct their miniature Formula 1 car.

Gerard Henn, CEO, Smithstown Light Engineering, said “We are excited to be part of Colaiste Mhuire’s journey in the F1 in Schools competition. As we commemorate our 50 years in business, we are particularly delighted to support STEM initiatives that encourage students to explore and excel in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
